LALIQUE, AN ANTIQUE MALTESE CROSS BROOCH, C.1915 in 18ct yellow gold, designed as a Maltese cross engraved with a man fighting an eagle, inscribed 'JOURNEE DU POILU 1915', signed Lalique, French assay marks, 3.5cm, 12.9g.
In December 1915 the French Government established a National Day to honour and support French soldiers known as Journee du Poilu. The eagle depicted on this brooch represents Imperial Germany and the fighting man represents French soldiers. Literally translated, poilu means 'hairy one' and was a nickname for French infantrymen during WWI.

Band F - £15,001 and above Cost is £80.00
International Packages are charged as follows:
i) Up to £250 in value charged at £30.00 per package;
ii) In excess of £250 in value charged at £40.00 per package plus insurance at a rate of 1% of the total purchase price.
