ROLEX – A RARE TROPICAL SUBMARINER DATE BRACELET WATCH, in 18 carat yellow gold, ref. 1680/8, circa 1977, the circular tropical purple 'nipple' dial with luminous dot hour markers and baton quarters, outer minute track, polished hands with luminous inserts, date aperture at 3 o’clock with Cyclops magnification, bidirectionial rotating bezel with blue aluminium insert, fitted to an 18 carat yellow gold Oyster bracelet with folding clasp numbered 92908, signed Rolex with Swiss assay and international convention marks for 18 carat gold, automatic movement, serial number 58612XX, case size 40mm, total weight 164.1g. Accompanied by a Rolex box. Please note; slight wear to bezel insert at 1, between 3 and 4, and 7 o’clock positions.

Originally issued with a blue dial, prolonged exposure to the elements has naturally altered the paint, producing a distinctive and highly desirable purplish tone. This form of tropical ageing is sought after among collectors, enhancing the watch's rarity and visual appeal. The watch is in great overall condition and is an exceptional example of a 1680. This represents a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally attractive Submariner in yellow gold.
